Are you looking for the perfect moist and delicious coffee cake recipe for breakfast, showers, and various celebrations? You are reading the right article! One of my favorite desserts is the coffee cake, but it needs to be moist enough to take my heart away. One wrong step and you are left with a dry, not-so-tasty cake.
I have tried many coffee cake recipes, but none has left me astonished as much as this one. The goodness of cinnamon and sugar is enough to excite my taste buds. So, are you ready to read the full coffee cake recipe? Let’s get started.
Why is it Called Coffee Cake?
Ever wondered why this amazing cake is called coffee cake even though there isn’t any coffee in the ingredients? The American versions of this tasty cake have a streusel topping that seems to be originated from Germany. Regardless of the coffee cake recipe, what these versions had in common was being served alongside a warm cup of coffee. Hence the name coffee cake.
How to Make Coffee Cake
The best thing about this coffee cake recipe is that it takes me only 10 minutes to prepare everything before throwing it in the baking oven. After 30 minutes, you will have the most delicious coffee cake on your table.
Ingredients
- 1 cup oil
- 2 eggs (beaten)
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup of sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 and a half cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/3 to ½ cup melted butter
Steps
- Begin by mixing the oil, milk, eggs, and vanilla.
- Grab a separate bowl and put dry ingredients in it, including sugar, baking powder, flour, and salt.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients in a bowl and blend until smooth.
- Next, make the streusel topping by combining cinnamon and brown sugar.
- Finally, pour half batter into the greased 9 x 13 pan and then top it with half the streusel. Then again, pour in the remaining batter and sprinkle the rest of the streusel. Don’t forget to drizzle it with melted butter.
- Cover the cake with foil and bake it for 25 to 30 minutes at 350°. Remove the foil paper and bake the cake for an additional 10 minutes.
How to Store Coffee Cake
Following are some tips you can follow to store your homemade coffee cake:
- You can store it in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- You can store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- Wrap it tightly with a plastic wrap and store it in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
The best thing about this coffee cake is that you can eat it both hot and cold – it tasted great both ways. However, I like my cake warm. To reheat it, warm it in a microwave for 10-20 seconds. Make sure to remove the plastic wrap before reheating it. Once warm, wrap it in aluminum foil so it remains warm for a long time.
