Chocolates and coffee are two of the most favorable coffee pairings, and when they are mix together, it creates a delicious coffee treat. Well, it is the weekend again coffee lovers, and we are still over the sugar land during the Easter week that is why we are thinking of what better recipe to share with our weekend coffee treat that is not too sweet, but it is the perfect beverage to indulge over the weekend.

We are thinking of making the easy Classic Starbucks Café Mocha because we still have the sweet tooth cravings, and what better to finish of the week than to have a hot caffeinated drink.

Before we start making a delicious mocha recipe let’s see first this fun trivia about the delicious drink.

Did you know that the word mocha is not a beverage that combines chocolate and coffee? Mocha is a type of coffee beans that is considered one of the best coffee beans in the market. In 1973 the term Mocha was popularized because it was a well-known variety of coffee beans in Europe. In terms of the beverage, there is no definite record when was the word Mocha had used it was only told that the mocha bean has a distinctive chocolate taste, and was held that using the term Mocha in beverages may well have been of American origin.

Classic Starbucks Café Mocha Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 shot hot espresso or strong coffee
  • 3 Tbsp chocolate syrup (or more), use a good quality for best taste, such as Hershey’s
  • 1 cup steamed milk
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract, optional
  • Aerosol whipped cream (optional)
  • A sprinkle of cinnamon, (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. In a large coffee mug, pour in 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup.
  2. Add coffee or espresso with vanilla extract and stir together.
  3. Then, add steamed milk.
  4. You can stir gently or leave layered.
  5. Topped off with whipped cream and 1 tablespoon of syrup, and dash a little cinnamon on top to finish.

Note: You can skip the whip cream part if you are trying to avoid cholesterol, and sprinkle a dash of cinnamon powder.
