Enjoying a nice cup of mocha cola is a great way to start the day. Not only is it delicious, but it also provides you with plenty of energy to get through your morning. You can make this drink in minutes using common ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen.
While there are many variations on this recipe available, below is my favorite version for making this caffeinated beverage at home!
What Are Mocha and Cola?
Mocha is a type of coffee made from chocolate, espresso, and milk. The Dutch introduced it to the world from Yemen.
Cola is a sweetened carbonated beverage that has been formulated in several different ways. It originated in North America as a non-alcoholic alternative to alcoholic drinks, but today cola drinks are available in many other parts of the world.
Ingredients
You will need:
- Coffee, 1 cup (you can use any kind of coffee you like, I prefer dark roast)
- Cola (not a diet; this just won’t be the same without the sugar), one bottle
- Ice
- Half-and-Half
Instructions
1. Fill a Mug with Ice
Fill a tall glass with ice. Using frozen coffee cubes will make it easier to get that perfect ratio of mocha-to-cola, but crushed ice or plain ice cube will also work just as well if you prefer it that way!
2. Pour in Cola
Add Coke, and then fill the rest of the way with coffee until your cup is about two-thirds full. Make sure to pour it into your glass (or pitcher) from a height to create a foamy head.
3. Pour in Coffee and Half-and-Half
Add in your brewed coffee. The coffee should be freshly brewed and cooled before use. Use a tablespoon of ground coffee per cup of water, but always follow the instructions on your particular brand’s packaging.
Pour the cold cola into a glass and then slowly pour in half-and-half to create layers of color, starting with deep brown at the bottom and ending with light brown at the top!
4. Stir to Combine
Stir to combine the milk, syrup, and coffee once they have been thoroughly combined.
Ensure to stir very gently to combine all ingredients in one smooth beverage. Pulse the mixture again until it’s thickened and frothy (if you are using a blender).
5. Top it up with Whipped Cream (Optional)
If you are a fan of whipped cream like me, you can top your mocha cola with it without worrying about ruining the flavor. But yes, make sure to serve mocha cola immediately after topping it up with whipped cream; otherwise, the whole experience would be ruined.
Conclusion
Congratulations! You’ve just made mocha cola. Enjoy your drink, and don’t forget to share this recipe with your friends and family!
