We heard hundred times the health benefits of coffee on how it can be a preventive measure to some diseases, and also it’s wonderful benefits to the skin and hair.
So, we talk about “how can coffee promote hair growth?” in our last blog, and the benefits of hair mask, hair detox, and coffee oil for healthy hair.
For today we want to make something different from our usual weekend coffee treat and make a coffee oil that you can use to your hair and body.
Coffee produces a natural oil when it’s roasted, this is a natural chemical reaction of coffee, between the internals of the beans and oxygen. While the natural oil of the coffee adds a flavorful texture to every cup, on the other hand, when coffee oil is use for the skin and hair it will make them healthy and glowy because of its caffeine content which is a potent chemical that can boost our skin and hair cells. Well, not just the caffeine, but as we all know coffee is rich in antioxidants that are essential for the body, skin, and hair. To name the antioxidants in the coffee have they are the; Chlorogenic acid, Condensed proanthocyanidins, Quinic acid, and Ferulic acid.
The natural coffee oil when roasted is okay to drink because it’s the persona of the bean to produce natural oil when it’s heated, but extracted coffee oils or coffee essential oil should never be ingested because it may cause some problem when taken orally. However, coffee essential oils have a lot of benefits for the skin and hair.
Here’s how to make coffee essential oil for the hair and skin.
Ingredients
Coffee Infused Oil (cold infusion)
- 1 c. pure Olive oil or Coconut oil
- 3/4 c. ground coffee
Method:
- In a jar, combine all ingredients. Put the lid on and shake well.
- Store for 3 weeks or up to a month, shaking every day or two. But be sure to shake it daily or on every alternate day.
- At the end of 3 weeks, strain through a cheesecloth or coffee filter.
To Make Coffee Infused Oil (Hot infusion)
- Combine 4 Tablespoons of ground coffee beans with 8 Tablespoons of pure olive oil or coconut oil in a pan. Heat it on over low heat for about 30mins or few hours, stirring occasionally.
- You can also use a small crock pot and heat it on low for a few hours, stirring occasionally. Strain the oil using either cheesecloth or a coffee filter.
- The coffee oil infusion can be used in many ways not only for the body but coffee oil can reduce fever, improves mood, soothes insect bites and stings, boosts appetite, alleviates stiff, achy muscles, mitigates indigestion.
Coffee can do wonders for our health not only by boosting our energy, but it has a lot of health benefits especially when taken in moderation. Likewise, if the coffee can do phenomena to our health why not as well into our physical health where it can also boost our skin cells, hair follicles and many more.
