Café Bombon

Café Bombon is an easy espresso recipe that originated in Spain. It is a popular coffee drink to serve to the guests or that special someone you’re trying to impress.

Café Bombon is a sweet treat that uses two simple ingredients: coffee and sweetened condensed milk. It’s perfect for satisfying any coffee craving! If you love chocolate and orange, this coffee will be right up your alley.

Origins

Cafe Bombon is a popular coffee drink in Valencia, Spain. It spread gradually to the rest of the country and may have been recreated and modified to suit European taste buds. This recipe for “Kopi Susu Panas” or “Kafe Ron” has already been around for decades in Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore and is very popular in “mamak” stalls or “kopitiams.”

A café bombón, however, uses espresso served with sweetened condensed milk in a 1:1 ratio—the Asian version, on the other hand, uses ground coffee and sweetened condensed milk at the same ratio.

To make this coffee, one has to pour condensed milk over an espresso. The glass used for this drink is full of milk. The espresso is added slowly to sink underneath it, creating two contrasting bands of contrasting color.

Making Café Bombon

As mentioned above, all you need are two ingredients; espresso and sweetened condensed milk.

Once you have gathered both these ingredients, the next steps are quite easy. Just pour the sweetened condensed milk carefully into a glass. Next, pour the espresso on top. Finally, serve, showing how the layers look different.

And yes, don’t forget to stir before drinking for a bit of fun!

Café Bombon Taste Profile

Café Bombón is a thick and sweet espresso drink because it contains no water and often has added sugar. Therefore, we do not recommend adding flavored syrups when making this coffee. Instead, you can look for naturally sweet coffee, such as Brazilian, Colombian, or Guatemalan coffee.

You can also find low-fat and fat-free versions of those blends, but we can’t guarantee they’ll taste just as delicious.
