After half a century roasting coffee in greater Los Angeles, the family behind the Don Fransisco’s brand is officially moving into the physical coffee shop space. Their shop will be called Don Francisco’s Coffee Casa Cubana.

This new Cuban-inspired coffee shop is owned by the Gaviña family who owns the grocery store brand Don Francisco coffee. The space sits right in the heart of the big, open pass-through, between the likes of Guisados at one end and Kai Japanese Roots at the other, with the new Blu Jam Cafe across the way.

The new Cuban inspired coffee shop, show a high-ceilinged space with accents of white, gold, and black. The wide footprint allows for bright tile, casual sitting spaces, and a ton of glass frontage. Everything—the finishes, the paint colors, and the plants—is intended to give the space “a fresh, relaxed, Cuban feel,” says Omgivning interior designer Norella Carboni. She also added that the shop’s decor incorporates items from the Gaviña family’s personal collection of “antique coffee artifacts.”
